Museum Fleet Project

The Maritime Museum of San Diego requested the Guild's expertise in 2011
to help create a topographic diorama of the Museum's fleet of ships.

About the Project

DOLPHIN and MEDEA berthed next to BERKELEY

SURPRISE
The Maritime Museum of San Diego (MMSD) reached out to the Guild to create a scale representation of the Museum's fleet berthed on San Diego's Embarcadero.

The Museum wished to be able to physically display the various berthing possibilities to assist them in their planning.  Additionally, the Museum could use the model as a demonstrative  talking point while discussing options with potential donors.

The completed diorama depicts the entire MMSD dockside: the STAR OF INDIA and BERKELEY as well as 14 other vessels and topographic features including the Embarcadero, breakwaters, floating docks and gangways.

The Museum Fleet Project is stored onboard the BERKELEY and is utilized by the Museum's executive director and staff to work out asset arrangements.
